100th Episode @ Reggaeville Vinyl Vibes

Today we celebrate the 100th edition of the REGGAEVILLE VINYL VIBES series!

It is a coincidence that we have this anniversary in February 2025 and so we are also using it to celebrate Bob Marley's 80th birthday.

We have released the 100th episode: Positive Vibration, the title track from the 1976 album Rastaman Vibration. However, we present a very rare and obscure version of the album. The record is titled Vibrations and was only released in South Africa with this alternative cover artwork. It's an alternate version of the Rastaman Vibration album. Only six songs of the 10 songs from the original release are included. The songs War, Johnny Was, Rat Race and Crazy Baldhead are missing.

These were replaced by Stir It Up & Kinky Reggae (from Catch A Fire 1973), So Jah Seh (from Natty Dread 1974) and I Shot The Sheriff (from Burnin' 1973).

Although the record is labeled as a Island Records release, there is a possibility that it is not an official and authorized release. Or maybe the political situation in South Africa at the time forced the label to replace the songs in order to be able to deliver a less militant record.
