TRIBUTES
WARRIOR KING
"I woke up this morning to the sad news of the passing of one of my greatest mentor, Idren, brother, teacher, father figure and cornerstone in our industry the Great Cocoa Tea. I grew up on his music, his music was a great source of inspiration to me and many others from that time until now.
What can I say he was a wonderful human being, always jovial and encouraging. I remember the first time we met in person when I usually jogged in the mornings at Caymanas Park in Portmore and he sent a bredrin to call I and he said jokingly “ I hear you’re faster than the horses and you can sing,” that was the beginning of a great friendship and mentorship. He was one of the first producers to record me on his Roaring Lion label, which brought forth the hit song “Baby Girl”.
I will always remember Cocoa and all the great moments and experiences we shared in studio, on tour or at his home in Clarendon where I got to meet his wonderful wife and children.
At this time I would like to express my deepest condolences firstly to his wife and children, relatives and everyone who was connected to Cocoa Tea in some way or the other, his passing is a great lost to our industry but he has definitely set a solid foundation for us all.
Fly high inna Zion my beloved brother there is a place for good people like you! Rastafari lives forever."

ANDREW HOLNESS
"I extend condolences to the family, friends, and supporters of Calvin George Scott, affectionately known as Cocoa Tea.
His smooth vocals and compelling lyrics gave us timeless classics like “Rocking Dolly” and “I Lost My Sonia,” songs that have become anthems in our cultural landscape.
Beyond his musical genius, Cocoa Tea was a beacon of kindness and generosity, consistently uplifting the less fortunate and embodying the warmth of our nation.
Cocoa Tea’s influence extended beyond our shores, touching hearts worldwide and solidifying Jamaica’s place on the global musical stage.
As we mourn his passing, let us celebrate the rich legacy he leaves behind, a legacy of melody, compassion, and cultural pride.
May his soul rest in eternal peace."
