Don Tippa ADD
Jamaican Reggae Recording Artiste Barrington “Don Tippa” Hill was born on the 4th day of April, 1980 in Montego Bay, Saint James. Don Tippa grew with his grandmother and mother. by calling and attended the primary school situated in the district of his birth which was Glendevon in Saint James. In secondary school, he graduated with a certificate in auto mechanic in the year 1997 and was an active in the vocational skills area.
However since then, his quest has been towards Music and Entertainment and he has made several trips to Kingston, Jamaica seeking a producer to record with which was futile at the time. He then started to develop his recording skills with “High Quest Production” located in Granville, Saint James like most of the artistes who later gained notoriety from within Saint James.
It was at this studio he met with other young aspiring artistes including Damion “Teacha Dee” Warren and they decided to create a home studio and producer themselves in the old reggae ways departing form the hip hop type of recordings that was fastly becoming popular.
Don Tippa along with his brother “Greogory “Mr. Ice” Whitehead and Teacha Dee continued to record for High Quest Studios as well as other studios in Montego bay even though they had a small recording studio at home and on few occasions they were even on route to Kingston doing recordings there.
In 2007, Teacha Dee got his first hit single in Europe and this paved the way for Don Tippa and Mr. Ice to expose their talent to on the European scene. In 2008 their home studio was officially named “Tenfloor Records” and Don Tippa along with the others began to focus on recording for European producers from Jamaica.
Don Tippa became popular in the European Reggae scene with songs such as “My Lady “on the Sweet and Sour Riddim produced by Italian producer Catchy Grizzly Records and “Hustler” recorded on the “Come Down Again Riddim” produced by Weedy G SoundForce.
Most of Don Tippa’s hit songs were recorded for “Weedy G SoundForce” which is a production label located in Switzerland. They are, “Touch her all over”, “on the Events Ridim, “Hustler” on the Come Down Riddim, “Nuh Worry We” on the Big Vibes Riddim, “My First Wife” on the War Riddim and “It must be love” featuring his youngest brother “Timoy “Tee Jay” Jones on the Jump Up Riddim.
Don Tippa also recorded a single called “Up and Down” which featured his brother Gregory “Mr Ice” Whitehead for Deebuzz Musik based in Germany on a riddim called “Naughty Wifey” and “Smoke Everyday” on the Dark Fader Riddim produced by Boomrush Records also based in Germany.
Another massive hit titled “Bubble ” was recorded for French producers “ Dj Flozio and Coolytop on a riddim called “ JAM DAM Riddim” expanding his reach within the European Market. He has also been featured in Germany’s number one Reggae Magazine “Riddim Magazine” several times within the singles review section and has been included in “Riddim Check” a Riddim Magazine release summary of hit tunes for 2013 presented by Sentinel Sound recently. Don Tippa’s motto is “ Live your life the best you can, be yourself and nobody else”.
