Lidiop

How do we know that an artist is in the process of changing status, of stepping from modest shadow into bright light? When his name circulates more intensely, when he becomes more and more visible, to the point that he can no longer be ignored - that's how we know. Lidiop is definitely at this point in his career right now, claiming his space with his new album Another Vision

Hailing from Senegal, the young artist was almost twenty years old when he dared to defy the family taboo and bought a guitar, hiding it under his bed at first. "An old man in the neighborhood taught me three chords, and then I continued to learn on my own.", he says. His father discovered Lidiop's passion for music when he participated in a talent show on TV in the late 2000s.  From meeting Senegalese reggaeman Dread Maxim, who was a revelation for him, and Faada Freddy, whose advice would prove invaluable, his journey led him to work with the "big brothers" Meta Dia and Leksen.

Lidiop arrived in France in 2012 to complete his studies, but he soon devoted himself fully to music - without much support. From bars to the Paris metro, he presents his incredible skills, until his talent is dicovered by the RATP, who invite him to play at the gigantic Solidays Festival in 2015 (and the following two editions). “This opened a lot of doors for me,” recognizes the singer: among other things, a show at L'Olympia in Paris, where he opens for Tiken Jah Fakoly and Alpha Blondy.

In 2015, he released a first EP entitled Way Of Life, to be followed in 2018 by his first album Soul'N'Mind, including artists such as Meta Dia and Jahneration. Thus, Lidiop has left his traces already prior to the release of Another Vision. There is a video in which he jams with Vanupié in the Paris metro that went viral, reaching almost 90 million views to date, but he also made his mark alongside Flavia Coelho and Bouchkour (Dub Inc) on the recent remake of Li Sem by L'Entourloop

Singing in French, English and Wolof, the versatile singer wants to share raw emotions and intimacy with his music, which he sees as a mirror through which he reveals himself to the world. A new and exciting facet of African Reggae for you to discover!
