REGGAE JAM 2023 - BY THE RIVERS OF BERSENBRÜCK
Even in the 29th year of its success story, the Reggae Jam stands for exquisite music and a unique atmosphere. This year's line up will again feature many big names from the scene. The Reggae Jam Festival has been taking place in Bersenbrück, Germany since 1994. Organizer Bernd "Sheriff" Lagemann combines his passion for Jamaican music and his love for his hometown with this event in an unusual way.
On the first weekend in August, hundreds of artists are on the two main stages of the festival in the monastery garden and the numerous sound stations on the extensive grounds with camping opportunities. For three days, up to 13,000 visitors celebrate to excellent music. Once a year, the Lower Saxony province is the hub of the reggae world. Most of the time, the sidewalks in Bersenbrück are not even folded down, but on the first weekend in August the air shimmers with Caribbean joie de vivre. On the meadows behind the village, a huge, colorful tent city has sprung up and the population has doubled in size.
In the picturesque monastery garden between time-honored half-timbered facades and the tranquil murmuring river, the stars of the international scene, veterans and newcomers do the honors on two large and several smaller stages and sound stations and inspire visitors from all over Europe. But it's not just the musical quality and the exotic guests that make the Reggae Jam so special: the small town itself also plays a large part in the fact that the atmosphere here is so reggae-magic: the whole of Bersenbrück has Reggae Jam fever and welcomes the illustrious visitors an absolutely stunning hospitality that is unparalleled in the festival scene.
When initiator Bernd Lagemann aka Sheriff promoted the first Reggae Jam more than a quarter of a century ago, he was still met with skepticism by the city fathers. In the meantime, the festival has become an important economic factor and the whole city takes part. No festival is more popular with reggaeheads, none more charming. And in the 29th year it's again: "Bersenbrück, are you ready?" And Bersenbrück spreads his arms and welcomes the vibe. 40 acts are on the program on the first weekend in August in Bersenbrück.
