Takana Zion

Takana Zion, whose name means “Destroy the city,” is an artist and engaged humanist who has established himself as the Guinean prophet of international reggae over the past fifteen years.

In his career, Takana has released emblematic albums such as Zion Prophet and Rasta Government, and has collaborated with notable names in the music industry including Sizzla, Capleton, Bunny Wailer, Manjul, and Tiken Jah Fakoly.

In 2021, his album Human Supremacy achieved great success among his fan community and received recognition from the French media. This roots album, made in Kingston and featuring powerful singles like “Energy” (featuring Sizzla), “Humble Lion,” and “Dirigeants Aveugles,” earned him the title of Best African Artist of the Year at the Victoires du Reggae awards and another Guinean Music Victory.

On October 2, 2022, over fifty thousand people gathered at the Conakry stadium to applaud the artist during a highly symbolic concert held on the day of Guinea’s independence celebration. This was both a musical and human consecration for Takana, showcasing his commitment to his people and his country.

Today, alongside his unwavering fan base, Takana is reinventing himself and venturing into new musical horizons. His latest album, Banjo Kafaan (March 3, 2023, Soulbeats Music), is a surprising gem that diverges from his usual sound. It is a skillful blend of Afro, R&B, and dancehall, infused with blues and even salsa.

Through this exceptional musical work, Takana pays a vibrant tribute to his ancestors and shares courage, spirituality, hope, and inner peace with his community.
