CANCELLED: Afro Nation - Portugal 2020 ADD
07/17 - 07/19 2020
DEAR AFRO NATION CUSTOMER
First and foremost, we hope you, your family and friends are keeping safe and well during these unprecedented times caused by COVID-19. Afro Nation has been closely monitoring this situation and working in tandem with partners, local authorities and the Portuguese Government. The safety of our fans, artists, staff and the local community remain paramount.
In light of the recent Portuguese Government directive regarding large gatherings, Afro Nation Portugal will be postponed to July 1st – 3rd 2021 and all tickets will remain valid.
On a more positive note, we have been working hard behind the scenes for every eventuality. We have expanded our line-up, and can now confirm the biggest Afrobeats line-up of all time for Afro Nation Portugal 2021. As an independent festival we are committed to putting on the biggest and best Afrobeats events to take place anywhere in the world for you.
WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE FESTIVAL?
According to the new Portuguese law provided by the Decree-Law DL 10I/2020, your ticket will be automatically transferred to the new date.
Should you wish not to transfer to 2021, you will have the opportunity to sell your ticket via our primary ticket provider Festicket. Afro Nation will delay putting any tickets on sale in order to give ticket holders as much time as possible to resell tickets if that is what you choose to do.
Your provider will be in touch today via email with further details on how to transfer to 2021 and how to resell your ticket via Festicket.
PORTUGUESE LAWS ON REFUND POLICY:
Along with many other countries the Portuguese Government has passed many emergency laws to protect the survival of the industries that make up its economy whilst still protecting the rights of the consumer.
These laws and measures have been put in place in the interest of protecting the many thousands of people who rely on and enjoy live events, including but not limited to the fans, venues, festivals, stage builders, technical and production teams, suppliers, bar staff, security, artists, hotels, restaurants and in general the thousands of people involved in the industry.
We are following this Government directive and postponing Afro Nation to the new date of 1st, 2nd and 3rd July 2021. To that end we will not be issuing refunds for Afro Nation 2020.

WHAT ABOUT FLIGHTS AND HOTELS?
If you booked through our official provider Travel Republic:
Given the postponement of the festival you may want to change or cancel the booking you have made with Travel Republic.
With uncertainty around travel at the moment, standard terms and conditions will apply for all bookings due to depart in July. For more detail and next steps dependent on your booking type please visit support.travelrepublic.co.uk/1486867952
The Portuguese Government is encouraging hotels to offer customers that can’t make their 2020 dates, vouchers to the same value of the associated booking. The vouchers can be used by you for any available dates till December 2021 as per Decree Law No. 17/2020.
This is in the interest of protecting customers who have booked accommodation from all over the world.
In addition to this we have been working with the hoteliers in the Portimao region, to come up with the best solution for our customers. The hotels below have agreed in addition to the government recommendations to allow Afro Nation customers to transfer the same room, for the same number of nights for the same cost to the 2021 show dates.
To take advantage of this, please contact your original booking provider and let them know you wish to move your booking to the 2021 Afro Nation dates. Once the hotel has been contacted, they will ask for proof of your original festival ticket booking. Please send the festival ticket confirmation you received from your ticket provider, and the hotel will confirm your booking:

WHY NOT POSTPONE TO LATER IN 2020?
Though it is hoped that the current situation will not last long, there can currently be no guarantee as to when it will be safe to operate a festival of this scale. By the autumn, the emergency services may still be stretched and there could still be restrictions on travel. Your safety is our priority and the reason we have decided to postpone until summer 2021.
A FINAL NOTE FROM AFRO NATION
