At a time when youth entrepreneurship seem to be non-existent in Jamaica’s economy; Ricardo “Puru” Bailey is fighting the waves to be one of Jamaica’s successful 21st Century Entrepreneurs.
Ricardo "Puru" Bailey was born in Kingston Jamaica, but spent a few years in Porus Manchester before returning to Kingston where he finished Primary level education at St. Richards Primary School, before moving on to Jamaica College (JC).
His love of photography (in all forms) began in 2006 when he was introduce to the art by his father, who gave him a Nikon Coolpix Digital Camera. The love for photography was born and soon blossomed into an intense drive for the next “shot“.
“Puru”, the photographic guru, as he’s mainly called, soon began taking pictures of almost every and anything around him. Though a master of photographing any event/scenarios; as a nightlife, lifestyle, and popular culture photographer, Ricardo's images breathe a compelling freshness sometimes technical or conceptual, other times authentic or raw that is rarely seen from an established freelance shooter at his age 23.
He has for two (2) years been creating stunning photography for models, entertainers and companies such as Cherine Anderson, Busy Signal,Tarrus Riley,Protoje,Jah 9, Voice Mail, Nicky B, Natel, Kimala "Lala" Bennett Buzz Magazine,876 Magazine, Yardflex.com and the Jamaica Observer just to name a few.
Ricardo has garnered the ovation of his peers by winning awards such as the National Geographic Urban Image Challenge and has earned the respect and attention of pop culture, celebrity, and nightlife magazines, as well as numerous online buzz centers. He has earned the title photographer guru, and if he's not the only photographer in Jamaica to be recognized as such, he's certainly the youngest to do so. With all this already under his belt, he is quick to bring his career back to humble basics. Some major events Ricardo has covered in Jamaica are Sting, Saint Mary Mi Come From, Asafa Charity Foundation, the Lawman Lynch Foundation “MUSIC for LIFE” Charity, Western Consciousness Tarrus Riley and Friends Concert, Coke Zero presents Sean Kingston in Concert and others.
